Tried foam and it didn’t work?

Minoxidil has to be activated by an enzyme called sulfotransferase. Foam relies on the enzyme in your scalp, and some men have little of it. A tablet is activated by your body instead. Early research suggests some men who didn’t respond to topical do respond to oral.

Is oral minoxidil approved for hair loss?

Minoxidil tablets were first approved abroad to treat high blood pressure, at doses of 5–40 mg a day. Prescribing a low dose for hair loss is an “off-label” use that has become common in dermatology, with published safety studies and international expert consensus behind it.

What happens if the doctor says no?
